Importance of The Local Church

Hebrews 10:25

“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”

We live in a strange time, as churches are shutting down, and attendance is dropping. The important thing is however, that the more the world is slipping into chaos and sin, the more we need the true, local Bible believing church! We can have fun at church, but church has been turned into a party, and the preacher into a humanistic motivational speaker (2 Tim. 4:3).

We see so many broken people in Albuquerque, families ravaged and torn apart by sin. Drugs and despair taking over entire neighborhoods leaving nothing but destruction and pain in their wake. The fact is however that JESUS is the answer for what ails you! Jesus will change your life and make you a new creature, with blessings you cannot imagine, but for years people have been told that only through pleasing themselves can they find fulfillment and happiness. My friend, the void that you or someone you know is trying to fill with sex, drugs, or other worldly pleasures can only be filled by Jesus Christ and the peace he brings to your soul!

The local church has been an integral part of society for generations (especially in the formerly Christian west), second only to the building blocks that are the family. The flames of the American Revolution were fanned by the pulpits of the colonies, and now the pulpits of America are being ignored for sound-stages and concerts. Fun has replaced fervor, and our society has become weak and sickly because of it. Families have fallen into disrepair, and entire communities are unrecognizable.

The job of the local church, is to reach the neighborhood with the Gospel of Christ, and by them accepting Him and becoming an active part of the church, their lives and families are changed and made more perfect (Acts 16:31, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Jeremiah 33:3). This continues as they abide in the church, and reach their friends and family, and it spreads until a revival or awakening happens and our communities are changed.

So many people say that they do not need to go to church to worship God - and yes, you can worship the Lord in your home or on the mountain! However, the scripture is clear that we should assemble together, and what a better place to do that than your local church?

One excuse that is used repeatedly, is that there are too many hypocrits in church... Quite often a pastor or preacher will jokingly say, "Well one more coiuldn't hurt!" - but the joke is accurate. No one in the church is perfect, from the preacher to the visitor, we all do things we shouldn't. As we grow however, and God makes changes in our lives, we strive to do better, and sin less, at least we should.

So come by Coors Road Baptist Church, we may not be perfect, but we love you, and we want to show you how much God can change your life for the better - if you only trust him.  Everyone is welcome in God's house, so come as you are, and leave as a new creature in Christ.

God Bless.
