Our Story

How it all started...

In the early 1980's, Evangelist Jamie Coleman, and his wife Billie, started a small church in a bank community room called Church of The Living Word.

Through the blessings of God, the church grew, and eventually moved to a new location on then Coors Rd in southwest Albuquerque. The church then was Living Word Baptist Church.

Jamie Coleman was pastor until his death in 1998 - at which point Jim Nicholson became pastor.

Attacks by the devil....

The only way to prevent the devil from attacking a Christian, is for a Christian to be doing the devils work. That was something that never happened at Living Word Baptist Church, and so the devil attacked mercilessly. The church held its final service in February of 2012, and brother Jim continued preaching revivals across New Mexico and in other southwestern states as part of God's Cowboys and Open Range Ministries.

A new beginning....

For several years after LWBC closed, another group met at the location. However, as God began to do his work, the church became empty again, and through many a prayer, God brought about this new work, Coors Road Baptist Church.

Though the sudden graduation of Sister Susie Nicholson in December of 2021 was a blow to the church, the work is continuing as we strive to reach out to this community God has sent us back into.
